Elbe Hills ORV

There are two routes marked on the map. The first one is marked in yellow and starts on I5 in Tacoma. The second is marked in red and starts on I405 in Tukwila. Where the two meet the route turns blue for the rest of the hardtop driving. Where it turns red again represents the gravel road to the ORV park.

Walker Valley ORV

Here is a copy of the state map distributed online of the Walker Valley ORV trail system. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed in order to view the map. Click Here For Map.

On occasion the Tamers volunteer for trail work at Walker Valley and on occasions when this happens we might have reason to use the back entrance to Walker which is usually gated and locked. On days that we volunteer though and work with the DNR we might use this way to get in and to the area where we are working. So in case you need it click here to get driving directions to the back gate.

Moses Lake Sand Dunes - Grant County ORV

There are two ways to get to the area where the Tamers Camp. This first uses over a rutted gravel road that can take a while depending on what kind of rig you are driving. This is the West route. The second is a little out of the way but is paved road most of the way with only the last mile on a gravel road. This is the East route. You will find the directions for both routes below.

Tillamook

When the Tamers go to Tillamook there are usually a couple of different routes that people take. Some people try to avoid Portland and others do not. Given the difference of opinions on which route is best only the destination inofrmation is going to be provided and the route that you want to take is going to be left for you to decide.

One thing you will need to make sure that you have before hitting the trails is an Oregon OHV permit. The last place to purchase a permit on the way to the campgrounds (from Portland) is the following Shell station. You will need the VIN for your vehicle in order to purchase the permit.

Gales Creek Shell and Grocery
55870 NW Wilson River Hwy
Gales Creek, OR
(503) 357-9645

There are two campgrounds that the Tamers have used in the past when staying at Tillamook.

Browns Camp
Browns Camp is close to trails but can get very busy on a holiday weekend. Space in the campground is limited and there is a nightly fee as well as fees for additional vehicles.

Diamond Mill
Diamond Mill is further away from the tails but it is a bigger campground and the fees for camping are much less.

Tahuya

There are a few ways to get to Tahuya and depending where you are coming from and what you are driving you will need to make up your own mind as to which way is the best. You could take a ferry over and then drive down, or your could take the Tacoma narrows bridge. I would suggest the bridge if you are towing a rig. If you are not towing then the ferry is an option but you will need to decide if it makes sense. Below you will find a link to the area where the Tamers usually leave the tow rigs. Most of the time we meet in Belfair at the QFC before heading to Tahyua. I have also included a link for the most recent map that I have of the trail system.
