Walker Valley Work Party Apr 2008

Last year the Tamers committed to the DNR that they would commit to volunteering 200 hours towards the Walker Valley ORV area. The commitment helped to secure two grants providing funds for the improvement of the Walker Valley ORV area. This work party was the first opportunity for the Tamers to make good on the promise and we put a dent in the commitment. Present were Ed, Mark, Rudi, Melissa, Doug (and daughter), Karl, and Russell. We ended up splitting into two groups for the day. One group hauled rock up “Pat’s Trail” hardening the trail for the expected traffic increase that would be seen due to the skills area being built. The second group worked on cleaning up a meadow where people were wondering off the trail. I was not there for that part but I think it involved hauling some logs in to make it clear where the trail boundaries were. All in all it was a good day and while the sun was not out, it did not rain very much for very long. It was kind of fun trying to get a trailer full of rock down a trail that was meant for a short wheelbase Jeep, challenging to say the least.

Until next time,
Rudi
