We did not know what to expect. The forecast was for warmer weather with the possibility of freezing rain. Please no freezing rain! We met up at the IGA in Darrington. As time passed more and more rigs showed up. When all was said and done we had 21. We had a short drivers meeting then the first group headed out. It was an interesting group with some very built Super Sammi’s, and a few others plus a full blown unicorn. That is right a CJ7. Anyone who wheels a CJ these days is a stud in my book. (of course I have no bias)

We started off getting to the Darrington Shell station about 9:35 am. The meeting time was 9:45 am and depart at 10am. Everyone had lined up across the street in the empty lot and it looked like a lot of people.

There were two groups for the Hangover Run for 2019—the “Big Dogs” and the rest of the folks. The “Big Dogs” were the people who were foolish enough to get up too early after New Year’s Eve to try to be the first (or highest) up the mountain in the snow. The rest of the folks were smarter than us, and took a more leisurely time about getting out of bed.

The alarm clock going off, with birds singing and the sounds of the babbling brook near our house and the sun peeking out…. Oh wait That was the dream I was having…. It was more like the alarm BLARING, still dark out and everything totally frozen including the babbling brook. Hell it wasn’t even light out yet and the moon was still Bright n full. In any case when we get up to an alarm clock in my house it is almost always because we are doing something fun that day. Today was going to be no exception. I was in charge of the first group going to Tonga Ridge today. The goal was to make high point and get the Hangover trophy. Hangover Run Jan 2016
It is tradition that the Tamers head out on a snow run New Years Day. We kept the tradition going another year and headed up to Tonga Ridge to see if there was any snow that we could put tracks in and to see who could get the furthest up the road. Continue reading “Hangover Run Jan 2016”

Hangover Run Jan 2010
Ah – not only a New Year, but also a reminder of the passage of years. The Hangover Run in years previous used to be attributed to imprudence of how much and what types of alcohol had been imbibed the previous night. Now – for at least some of us who’ve been around the club for more than a few years – hangover is more a measure of how much and the types of food we’ve partaken over the holidays. When we say it’s hard to get into our rigs – it is literally hard to get up into our rigs. Another day of playing in the snow! We even got to see Stumpy again! (great to see you out and about!) It was a great day with no problems and no breakage and we did not stop until the snow was over 7 feet deep. Continue reading “Hangover Run Jan 2008”
Hangover Run Jan 2005
Hanging Over on the Hangover Run ….. As sure as the Earth travels round the Sun once a year, God makes little green apples, and the brown bear goes ca-ca in the woods – on New Year’s Day, you’ll find a band of Tamers once again heading into the cold and snow for another race to the top of the hill.
