To compare Tamers to lemmings rushing headlong to the sea – would only be partially correct. In part – because lemmings really just move to new territories if their population necessitates more living space. Has nothing to do with mass rodent suicide. The only thing lacking reason Tamers might be doing on Operation Shore Patrol weekend – is to be rushing headlong into traffic – at any time of day or night – and still be foiled in their hope to get to Tidelands early and easily.

OPERATION SHORE PATROL 50TH ANNIVERSARY
Operation Shore Patrol, (OSP), is a bit of a passion of mine, as I love the ocean. Planning this event typically starts for me in the spring, and doesn’t finish up until the week or so after the event. It begins with asking for volunteers, contacting the campground and vendors, and moves outwards from there.

Keep in mind – it’s the trip, it’s the beach, it’s the friends, it’s the shared meal, it’s helping make the beach a cleaner place, it’s the jokes, it’s the fun, it’s the leg-pulling, the sound of engines, the heritage of wheelers being wheelers together – Operation Shore Patrol is overall – THE EXPERIENCE!

We headed out a day earlier than in the past on Thursday. The drive down was ok, traffic light and we sailed thru all the normal backups except in Shoreline area, but even that wasn’t too bad. We got into Aberdeen/Hoquiam area and hit a couple downpours but we could see blue skies a head of us. We kept our fingers crossed. Then blue skies n sunny!

It’s Sunday evening post OSP – and Lola – tuckered out from her atypical weekend away from home – has put herself to bed (or actually under the bed) 2 hours early. She and her brother Kona spent a weekend with their mistress and me at Operation Shore Patrol. Being forced to spend time on the hard ground or on a lead, and not lounging on the couch as might have been the case at home all weekend – I’m sure they’d think of reporting us to the ASPCA – if only they had the opposable thumbs to manage it. I think mainly they are glad just to be home again. We tell them, “Remember – you always beg to come along. Well this time – we brought you!” Continue reading “Operation Shore Patrol Sep 2017”

About 50-55 rigs attended this year, in the Ocean Shores area. Most of us stayed at Tidelands RV Resort. We fed about 70 people, both lunch and dinner. Thank you to everyone who made this event possible!

What can I say it was Operation Shore Patrol. There were less people this year because of the economy but we still managed to take a lot of garbage and refuse off the beaches. The Tamers put on a steak dinner once again and I did not hear any complaints so we must have done ok. Continue reading “Operation Shore Patrol Sep 2008”
