It is only Tahuya Mar 2008

What can you say about Tahuya, it’s Tahuya. We all met in the QFC parking lot in Belfair around 9:00 AM (not adjusted for Tamer Time). It was a pretty nice day all said as the weather was decent with a little sun. We all finally got to the staging area setup and ready to go but no one wanted to lead the way. So at this point since I had never been to Tahuya, it was decided that I should lead everyone around looking for somewhere to play. So we all took off in a direction that resembled the “right way” according to my “advisors”. About 15 minutes in Penny was on the radio asking for something to clean up after the dog that she had with here that day. Apparently the dog did not like riding in the Jeep and was protesting by being sick all in the back of Penny’s Jeep. Something was found to clean up the mess but about every 20 minutes “Ralph” (the dogs new name) would toss his cookies. Thankfully about lunch time “Ralph” ran out of cookies and things got a lot better for the rest of the day. We did manage to find some rocks to play on later in the day and this is where I made my clutch stink by slipping it to much. Gary also managed to break a front axle, but it was not a big deal and was the excuse he needed to put in the Dana 60. Moose also figured out that day that on the Mount Loop Highway run he may have broken the front detroit in Moosenstien. Given this he ran the rest of the day in 2WD which was not a big deal given that it was Tahuya. After lunch we headed for “Mud Lake” a special area set up for playing in the mud. Every one skirted the edges and with Mark being the only brave one heading for the middle. After getting tired of the mud pit we headed for what was reportedly the “difficult” hills at Elbe. I think that I missed them. On the way I tried to get Mark wet and ended up sucking water into my engine. I was really lucky and did not hydro lock the motor, but I sure did get it wet. Once I knocked the water out of the air filter and blew the water out of the distributor it fired off again and we continued to put around looking for somewhere to play. All in all it was a relaxing day and the only problems were the result of our (my own) idiocy. I learned something and finally got to see Tahuya.

Until next time,
Rudi
