Walker Valley March 18, 2023

A good day of sunshine and wheeling. There was 6 of us all together including Chad with his Dad, Antoine in a JLU, Dean in his JKU, and Nate is his JK on 40’s. After introductions, and a quick driver meeting, we headed off to the south entrance gate keeper.

Since all were “Rubicons” the gate was easy peezy. After asking Antoine if he was ready for some undercarriage scraping, we headed to Timber Tamers trail first. New to wheeling JL’s and a set of 33’s made this trail very challenging for a few rigs. Two and half hours later we had everyone thru with some winching. Antoine took a little fender flare damage that I was not quite quick enough to stop. Sorry again Antoine.

The rest of the day was casual. We started out with the Around The Sound trail then went to the Look Out where we took a break for lunch. Next it was one of the Gravel Pits which was followed by Humps and Bumps where we ran into a little snow. This was followed by the second Gravel Pit. Chad, his dad, and Nate had decided to call it a day and headed out thru Easy Valley Connector while the rest of us continued.

Next was the Rainer Ridge Ram trail where I decided to give the rock obstacle a try while Dean and Antoine choose to watch. No one appeared to have given the obstacle a try yet this day, but it was till hard to get started due to all of the previous attempts. It took more effort than I liked but I was finally able to get started. At one point I heard a pop-snap and thought it was my differential hitting a rock. I backed up to try another line and did not hear the sound again. After getting through the obstacle I got out and took a look at the rig and found I separated the heim joint on my front lower link at frame. Since we were finished for the day and knowing I could make it to the trailer I chose not to replace it on the trail. It was a noisy ride back to the parking area, but back we made it fine. Thanks again for those who could come out and join the fun. I also want to thank Nate for his patience with the group and being tail gunner.
