There was a lot scheduled for Walker Valley this day, so I thought I would get up there and help in any way that I could. Now being a 2nd shifter the meeting time was a bit early for me so I set my alarm. Casey decided it was going to be too early to cold and too snowy so she was staying home..LOL I really didn’t think we would see very much snow. Oh how wrong I would be.

Twin Lakes:
Travis, Ken and Ryan and I decided on a whim to go up to Twin Lakes in the Mount Baker national forest. Not sure if this would be an official Tamer run, But Travis and We are Tamers and Ken is a candidate.
We met up at the Shell station in Marysville at exit 88 at 8am and then traveled the two and a half hours to Twin Lakes – practically the Canadian border.

At the club meeting, Thursday prior to the club run, we asked for volunteer to lead the group. No one raised their hands so I said sure I would do it! But seeing though I am a 2nd shift worker we would start at 10am, LOL. I got a few hmms and haws and I double checked if anyone else wanted to lead but no one stepped up.. Ok cool.. 10am it will be.

Hefty Haul Out April 2017
Having left my rig pulled off up on the gravel – I’m standing calf-deep in brambles and thorns off the steep downside of the main road –
First note to self – “Bring leather gloves down with you instead of leaving them in the rig.”
Second note to self while barely able to move feet tangled and twisted up in brambles – “A pair of pruning shears or a machete would be really handy right now.” (I now remember that from my last time in this position….)
Third note to self – “I need to remember to bring some of the younger buckaroos and buckaristas along with me and show THEM the lower side of the road where trash should be getting pulled out!”

I was elected by my wife to be trail Leader for this run. Seeing as her truck was down in the garage and I wasn’t at the meeting she volunteered “us” to be trail leaders. Hehe. Continue reading “Walker Feb 2017”
Walker Oct 2016
Today, was not so usual for us. Our normally prepared events, were interrupted by another matter on Friday, so Saturday morning at O’Dark Thirty, we discover neither rig had gas, and the Zuk had no spare tire or winch attached. OK, we will need to leave a bit earlier than planned to get gas….then, we discovered that both the trail rigs Disco passes had expired! Well, we certainly can’t go out without those, so I jumped online to purchase online, and have our confirmation #’s on hand, if asked. At the disco pass website, I find a message saying “I’m sorry, we are not able to offer Disco pass purchases online right now, please check back at a later time”. Well, this won’t do as we need to be out of the house in a few minutes to get gas, and still get to WV before our 10am meet up time. So, out of the house we run, so we can gas up, then stop and get disco passes. At the gas station, we find that Gary has forgotten his wallet at home. Hoping this is not how the rest of our day will go, I run for Disco passes, while Gary runs for his wallet, and we meet back up at the Ace Hardware parking lot, to blow the Pop Cycle Stand! Walker Valley ORV Nov 2015
The Tamers met at Walker for a late start Sunday run. It was a very crisp, cold morning at 27 degrees. Frost covered most of everything. I nominated Gary Miller in his Sami to lead the run because my CB has not been working. We motored over to the Timber Tamer Trail. We entered the lower half of the Timber Tamer Trail. Walker Valley April 2015
It was an hour before wheelin’ and all through the lot, rigs were pulling in, and airing down what they brought. TT Flags were hung, from antennas with care, in hopes that the trails soon would beware.
Hubs were all locked, and Mirrors tucked in, doors and tops were removed, CB’s Channels tuned in! With the Sun above our heads, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but two tiny red heart shaped tail lights, on a lime green Jeep! Continue reading “Walker Valley April 2015”

Walker Work Party Mar 2009
Well, it is Saturday and time for another work party at Walker Valley to help fill out the grants for the park. I was able to get to the main parking area on time with out rushing and that turned out to be a good thing as the trooper’s were out and about. Funny thing when I got there was that there was no one there, not a single person or rig. It did not take long before John and another guy showed up though and we BS’d until Elyse, Byorn, Ann, Josh, Mike (guest), Gary, and Mark all got there. After making a quick call to confirm that we had everyone we headed up to the top of the upper main line to work on a water bar. Continue reading “Walker Work Party Mar 2009”
Walker Work Party Jan 2009
In 2008 the Tamers made a commitment of 250 hours towards two grants for the Walker Valley ORV area. On Jan 31st we were able to complete that commitment for one of the grants and are already making good progress with meeting the commitment for the remaining grant. I want to say then you to the following Tamers that were able to make it to the work party and help with the work to install a new information board as well as harden a problem spot in one of the main trails.
